Charles "Bonny" Bonfiglio had the distinction of wrestling on the school's first team in 1928. He was two-time Niagara District AAU Champion and won the City of Rochester title in 1929 as a senior. He posted an 8-1 mark in his senior campaign. Dr. Mark Ellingson, RIT's first wrestling coach and later president of the Institute, recalls Bonfiglio as a determined grappler. "Charlie did an outstanding job while wrestling for me and was a terrific competitor," stated Ellingson. "He was modest and courteous but always hard working."
