A. Leo Fox coached basketball for 15 years (1941-1956), 12 of them as varsity mentor. His teams had eight winning seasons, including the unbeaten 1955-1956 squad. Five of his teams posted double-digit wins. The team did not play during World War II years from 1942-46. Fox authored many basketball articles for Scholastic Coach and Athletic Magazine, and coached the team during the era when the Jefferson High School gymnasium was RIT's home court.
