Led by head coach Bruce Delventhal, men’s hockey captured the NCAA Division III Championship for its second title in three seasons. RIT was an at-large selection for the NCAA Tournament defeated Mankato State in the opening round at Ritter Arena by scores of 5-4 and 5-2. The Tigers took on tourney host Union and avenged a loss in the ECAC Championship, winning 3-2 in the semifinals. RIT earned the title by defeating Bemidji State, 4-2. RIT finished with a 26-6-1 overall record and scored 222 goals. Ten players had at least 30 points. Larry Shomphe led the Tigers with 32 goals, while goaltender Chet Hallice was named NCAA Championship Most Valuable Player.
