In 1970-71, head coach John Buckholtz guided the Tigers to a perfect 16-0 record, the only unblemished season in RIT men's swim history. Comprised of 24 swimmers, the team splashed through the campaign, scoring 1,146 points, outscoring their opponents by an average of 71.6-39.8 points. The Tigers went on to place second to Division I St. Bonaventure University in the Upper New York State Championships and competed in the NCAA Division III Championship. In the state meet, RIT boasted five champions, including three individuals and two relays.
