In the history of RIT men’s basketball, no team has equaled the success of the 1955-56 squad. Under the leadership of Head Coach A. Leo Fox, Assistant Coach Lou Alexander, Jr., and Faculty Manager Harold “Steve” Brodie, the team was undefeated with a 17-0 record. In the game at Ontario College, RIT scored a school record 104 points to 71 for the home squad. Twice more during the season RIT topped the 100-point mark (103-80 vs. Fredonia and 103-36 vs. Geneseo). The team scored 1,519 points for a new school record (89.2 average), while holding the opposition to 1,036 points (60.9).

The roster consisted of Fred Moss, Arnie Cardillo, Ken Hale, Ed Baucum, Al Landsman, Ralph VanPeursem, Ken Johnson, George Holdridge, John Buchholz, Ken Eybers, Don McCaughey, Marlin Siegwalt and team manager Robert Lorenzen.

Hale led the squad with 428 points (25.2 average), followed by Baucum (301, 17.7) Cardillo (156, 9.2) and Moss (153, 9.0). Hale set a record with 44 points (twice, both home and away). His 1,044 points in three seasons was also a new mark.

Several members of the team have passed away, including A. Leo Fox, Lou Alexander, Harold “Steve” Brodie, and former players Ken Hale, Al Landsman, Ken Eybers and Marlin Siegwalt.

This is the first year a team is being inducted into the RIT Sports Hall of Fame.
