It was a year to remember for the 1954-55 women's fencing team. The Tigers recorded a 7-0 dual match record during the regular season and won the 1955 Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association Championship by winning 10 consecutive matches, a feat never before equaled in the 27-year history of the tournament. During the dual season, all members contributed to the perfect 7-0 mark. In the IWFA Championship, June Johnson Siebach and Barbi Brill won nine matches and lost one.
Coached by Harold "Fritz" Florescue, the team included co-captains June Johnson Siebach and Clea Cooper Allen, along with Barbi Brill, Patricia Estey Modrak, Helen Sowinski Farnam and Theresa Olszewski Binkley. Coach Florescue and Barbi Brill have passed away.
