ROCHESTER, NY --
The RIT men's lacrosse will face SUNY Cortland on Wednesday, May 19 at 4:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship. The game will be played at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex in Cortland, New York.

RIT, ranked 14th in last week's USILA Division III poll, advanced to the quarterfinals with an 11-9 win at Connecticut College last Saturday. The victory was the first NCAA tournament win and first trip to the quarterfinals for the TIgers since 2000.

Third-ranked Cortland advanced to the quarterfinals with an 18-6 win over Keene State in the second round last Saturday. The win was the 15th in a row for the Red Dragons who are the defending Division III national champion.

These two teams met back on March 31 with Cortland defeating the Tigers 12-11 in overtime. RIT was one of only three teams to score in double figures against the Red Dragons this season.

Cortland jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, but the Tigers roared back out-scoring the Red Dragons 6-4 in the second quarter.

The Red Dragons took an 11-8 lead into the third quarter before goals by Sean Gillies (Oakville, Ontario/Albany Academy), Adam Lehmann (Rochester, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) and Kelso Davis (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) tied the score at 11-11. Davis' scored the game-tying goals with 1:51 remaining in regulation off a feed from Iric Bressler (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) to tie the game at 11-11.

SUNYAC Player of the Year Chris DeLuca scored the game-winner with seven seconds remaining in overtime on an assist from Brian Krol to give the Red Dragons the win.

Cortland State is 17-12 all-time versus RIT. The Tigers have not defeated the Red Dragons since the 2000 season.
