Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney),
Darryl Anderson (San Diego, CA/Southwest), and sophomore
Brendan Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) earned 2010 All-Empire 8 postseason honors on Thursday. Terry was a first team selection, while Harder was named to the second team. Anderson was RIT's Sportsperson of the Year.
Terry enjoyed a strong season for the Tigers, leading the team in scoring, averaging 16.2 points per game. He also averaged 2.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 51 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3-point range, and 74 percent from the foul line, Terry scored in double figures 22 times, including 16 straight to end the season. He also scored over 20 points in a game five times. Terry poured in a career-best 27 points in two different wins over Utica.
Harder emerged as one of the top big men in the conference. He finished second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game, while leading the squad with 6.8 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game. Harder also shot 52 percent from the field and 70 percent from the line. Harder scored in double figures 14 times and recorded five double-doubles. On Feb. 9, Harder scored a career-best 33 points in a win over Nazareth. He also added 26 points and 18 boards against the Golden Flyers on Jan. 5.
One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2009 Men's Basketball Sportsman of the Year Team. Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen. Anderson appeared in 24 games this season, averaging 3.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.6 steals per game.
RIT finished the season with an 14-11 mark, including a 10-6 record in conference play. RIT won six straight, and 11 of 12 to end the season.
