5.7.2009 | Women's Softball
ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore pitcher/utility Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden), a member of the RIT softball team, earned 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District I Region honors on Thursday.  Selections are made based on a combination of academic and athletic excellence.  Cole, a photography major, was a third team all-district selection with a 3.30 grade-point average.

ROCHESTER, NY - Five members of the RIT softball team earned 2009 All-Empire 8 postseason honors on Tuesday.  Shortstop Emily McPherson (Pompey, NY/Fabius-Pompey) and catcher Lisa Fronczak (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) were named to conference's first team, while pitcher/utility Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) and outfielder Jen Hayden (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) garnered second team honors.  Outfielder Jenna Mausolf (Hudson, NY/Hudson) was RIT's representative as the Empire 8 Sportsperson of the Year.

ITHACA, NY – The No. 4 RIT softball team was eliminated from the 2009 Empire 8 Tournament after losing to No. 2 St. John Fisher (29-9) and top-seed Ithaca (26-15) by identical 4-1 scores on Saturday afternoon.  The Tigers end their season with a 19-18 record.
